The alkalising component leaves a really strong taste of chemicals after only 3 months of use, the water is now undrinkable. I have tried my girlfriend’s water after she installed a new system from Apec and it tastes fine with the same alkaline filter. Maybe the apecwateroutlet.com sales are defective products. I’d like to be able to contact Apec about this through apecwateroutlet.com but see no option so I have to leave this comment as a public review.

Love apec and their filter systems! Easy enough to change out when needed.

It was rather affordable to have good drinking water in your home.

This is my 1st set of replacements that included the membrane and only because we had an accident with hot water running through it for some time…darn it!! The water definitely tastes better, it’s portable, and I really don’t mind the real estate taken by the countertop filter. We did get the one with the aluminum cover and use it as a shelf. Looks fine. If it weren’t for the difficulty in replacing the membrane then it would be perfect.

The directions for filter replacement are easy to follow with pictures to help. This system removes all the chlorine, fluoride, and junk in our city water, and makes it taste good.

I find this the most trustworthy countertop water filter.
Since it’s relatively slow to fill up water bottles, we do get distracted doing other errands while waiting on it to fill, so we flooded our kitchen a couple times.
Lesson learned, we are doing it only in the sink now.

The original CTOP system I had from Apec was great. I use 1) water electrolyzer 2) TDS meter and 3) test strips to test the purity of my water. Original system had near zero levels on the TDS meter and no gunk or change of color with the electrolyzer. I change all filters with these replacement filters from Apec, and at first, the water tested well again. However, in 3-4 months, I could smell the chlorine (usually only in the tap) in the RO water. After testing with the electrolyzer, there is a definite layer of brown gunk on top. TDS is about 162. It’s not like I have a household of 6 and I’m the only person who uses the RO. Very disappointing that the filtration efficacy did not last beyond a few months.

Holey moley! I love this system, but replacing the membrane was ridiculously difficult and took every ounce of my strength to open the container, and that’s even using their wrench! And I am a 38 year old male! Maybe I just received my countertop system with an extra tightened membrane filter, but I seriously almost gave up and was ready to just buy a whole new case. Luckily, I finally managed to open it after literally using my full strength.
