This is such a farce. The water is not in any way soft, does not remove particles, causes my skin to itch, and still leaves scale on the dishes. I have to use at least double the laundry detergent. You can’t drink it because it doesn’t remove the arsenic in the water, though you can’t tell it’s not pure as it tastes okay. This is very misleading and I’m bummed my husband spent the money on this expensive system. I’m having to pay to remove it and add a water softener once again.

After more than 10 years of use, the diaphragm in my Watts tank failed. Instead of purchasing a whole new reverse osmosis system, I replaced the tank with one of these. I also took the opportunity to install an isolation valve for easier future servicing, so I won't have to drain the system when changing filters. I’m very pleased with the results, and it has proven to be a cost-effective solution.

I've been ordering these for years without problems but I am downvoting to warn of a new problem:

The plastic output line tube included with my latest order (October 2024) came with a disgusting, acidic, acrid plastic smell to it resembling that of a Sharpie marker. It infused the smell into the output water itself. It did not smell safe to drink. I realized that it was the output tube, not the filters, when I sniffed the outside of the tube and noticed the tube itself smelled the same. My old output line has always smelled perfectly fine, so I swapped back to it.

So, SAVE YOUR OLD OUTPUT TUBE.

I am calling APEC to warn them that something may have gone wrong with their manufacturing.

I purchased to add a 1 micron filter after the fist 5 micron filter. It arrived with black specs in it and the inlet broken, with black marks on the bottom of the canister. Not impressed for the price.

EDIT: ordered replacement and got a brand new one that was in perfect working condition.
