   This 3/8″ Quick Connect Inline carbon filter does not fit the old RO-90 system bought 5 years ago. I had to buy a separate 5th stage filter. This one did not work for me, so it was a waste of money.

   I installed the RO Perm system in 2016. I also installed Apec’s treatment system for removing iron and also a water softening system. Very happy with all 3 units.

   This filter replacement kit came with a 3/8″ connection on the filter #5. My system came with 1/4″ connections. Rather than try to send the filter back, I purchased (2) 3/8″x1/4″ reducers and a short piece of 3/8″ tubing. This allowed the transition in tubing sizes and allowed for the change out. The #5 filter did bare a different part number than the original. (5-TCR-QC) #5 in this kit: 5-TCR-3-8
   I guess I just didn’t notice the description of the kit. All the other filters are the same.

   No worries. All works fine.

   The reducer bushings were about $5 each from Home Depot. 12″ of 3/8″ tubing .$65.

   Great RO system. Make sure all of the filter part numbers are correct for the replacement. Also, found out from the manufacturer that only the 3 basic filters are needed to be replaced annually. The other two filters #4 and #5 filters are to be replaced every 4 to 5 years. That would have saved us money.

   We recently purchased the APEC 90 GPD system to replace our old 50 GPD system. These filters are for when we need to replace the whole set of filters, which shouldn’t be for 3 to 5 years. The filters are identical to those in the new system I just installed, so I give the product a five-star review. Even though this isn’t a review of the APEC 90 GPD system, I also give that purchase a fine-star review. The difference between that and the old unit is unbelievable. In addition to cooking, drinking, and ice maker, we use the RO water to do bi-weekly care of 60 orchids and go through about 14 gallons of water. We had to store many gallons of water to do the job, which took two days to collect. This time we only used 4 gallons of stored water – the rest came right out of the RO faucet. We never managed to run the system dry. We just used the stored water because we did not want to wait as long as the reduced flow would have taken. We frequently ran the old system dry. Bottom line – this is a great RO system.
