I installed this 2 years ago on a kitchen sink cold line, since we were killing the fridge filters and I didn’t want a whole ‘system’ I wanted simplicity. Seeing them in restaurants and at businesses was a selling point as well. All in all, very happy with the solution and cost. I’d estimate they last about 5 months for small family on the kitchen cold, but it depends on how much we are cooking before we notice a sudden drop off in taste. It goes from tasteless to omg what happened here, and that’s when its time to change the filter! Since then I just replace it every 4 months and don’t get to that point. Very happy with the cost, simplicity and performance.

Prior to this purchase, I was using GE filters every 3 to 6 months which kept getting more expensive and harder to find at the home stores and online. This unit is meant for the kitchen sink and has a larger capacity and longer use time. I placed a tee before the kitchen faucet, purchased an APEC water faucet and another tee for the refrigerator ice maker so the filtered water is not wasted for general kitchen use, only consumption. I expect this unit to last much longer then my previous one. I also purchased a few back up filters just in case APEC decides follow the GE business plan. So far I like the unit, the water pressure is amazing and I am very satisfied. When you first use it, the water appears cloudy, no worries, it dispenses lots of very small bubbles for the first few gallons of water, after that it is crystal clear.
