   Oh my gosh, this filter! I’m so happy I got it. I recently was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and I have been taking the natural approach to heal, so of course I’ve been trying to get rid of as many toxins in my life as possible. Though I was very hesitant to get a water filter because of the investment. I almost went with the $500 Berkey filter but then realized RO has a lot more science to back it. I live in an apartment so the countertop filter was perfect for me. I thought of asking my landlord if I could install the under counter one, but I read a lot of reviews of leaks happening and causing property damage…. Not sure if that would have happened, but I do know that WON’T happen with the countertop version. I’m looking forward to using it even when we eventually own a home. It’s very inconspicuous and convenient and doesn’t create any annoyances while I’m washing dishes like my Brita filter would. What I do is fill up my gallon glass jar which has a stainless steel spigot. It takes maybe 10-15 min, I haven’t timed it. I just do other things in the kitchen while it’s filling and then I have water for my husband and me for the whole day usually. The taste is amazing! I love how clean and pure it tastes. I mounted it under the cupboard so you can hardly notice it and it doesn’t take up any valuable counter space. Would highly recommend this filter!!

   I’ve had this system set up and running for 3 weeks now. No complaints. The water quality (measured by taste) has improved drastically. I also see fewer calcium deposits on my tea kettles and glassware. The tap water here in San Diego is pretty gnarly, so much that guests from out of town have trouble drinking it. I enjoy the filtered water to much I find I am drinking more water than usual (a health plus, for me). The sleek case looks fine and nondescript in my kitchen. I purchased a 2.5 gallon BPA free water jug from Walmart (it was about 10 dollars), which I fill each day from the RO system. The jug sits resident on the counter-top, and makes dispensing water easy and fast. In the summer I plan to keep it in the fridge. It takes 15 minutes to top off the jug each day, which may be 2 gallons worth. One must monitor the filling process, or else water will spill all over the counter. I do this in the morning while cooking breakfast and making coffee, so I can keep an eye on it. It’s a good routine, and it helps me track how much water I’ve been consuming. I’m impressed and have recommended the RO approach to my friends when they come over and taste the water. It beats carrying 5 gallon jugs up the stairs every few days!

   Clean tasting water! It’s easy to install on most typical faucet that takes an aerator attachment. Did bacteria test and it came out negative. Did strip test for chemicals and it was all extremely low or none at all. Don’t know how accurate those are but bought them off apecwateroutlet.com as well. The faucet hose is the only negative I can point out. It won’t be able to handle that much pressure. Just be careful and monitor it while it’s running. If it bursts, it’s pretty easy to repair, just cut the tube and reconnect then push down the metal connectors. Only had that happen once and now I’m more careful not to open the faucet more than a quarter of the way. I’ve had RO systems in different countries and those had thicker hoses but I suppose it keeps the price down here. It’s a great system, just be mindful of the limitations of a small portable unit. About 8-10 minutes for a gallon of water for me. Water will come out looking milky the first time you use it. Just let it run for a few minutes. The milky stuff is mostly air and will eventually clear up. I’ve not had this issue after the initial setup. TDS is greatly lowered after passing the RO filter. I also installed the PH filter so that’s why it’s still showing a low number. Great for cooking, use in appliances like steam or iron, humidifier, etc.
