Do not buy a salt free softener if you have even moderately hard water. I made that mistake 3 years ago with this system. I had no major issues with my salt system for 15 years. Now I’m replacing toilet valves and water heater elements on a regular basis. I also have to shop vac 6-8″ of scale out of the bottom of my water heater every year. Even if this system does work for less hard water the media is so expensive to replace it isn’t a cost effective solution.

I have had this water softener for over a year now and it has not done anything for our water. We have a well and the water is slightly hard but not terrible. I was hoping this softener would take the hardness down and reduce calcium build up. Unfortunately I have not seen any reduction at all. We still have the same build up in showers, faucets and on the refrigerator water dispenser. I would not recommend this product.

So when you go to replace the pre-filter can be purchased on apecwateroutlet.com (20″ filter) Fi-CBC20-BB or (10″ flilter) Fi-cbc20-bb. The media can not be bought on apecwateroutlet.com it has to be purchased through APEC. Media item number is M-FT-15. I feel like this water softening system is great.

I’ve been using it for 3 months, but the more I use it, the more I regret to buy it.
I live in new construction area(only 3-month-old house). It’s hard to find anyone in my neighbors who gets this salt free water softener, but me.
Now,I get to know why.
It leaves a lot of hard water stains.
I still need to scrub to clean spots on my shower glass wall and door.All my faucets and my kitchen sink(it’s grey)are needed to wipe as soon as possible to avoid getting white spots. I’m so doubt it really works as a water softener.
It just a water softener alternative and I spent over $2,100(purchase +installation) for what!

It does not reduce the water hardness in any way. Any salt free water “conditioner” is just a scam. What a waist of money. I’m just going to take is off and throw it away. (Update, the manufacturer saw this review then got in contact with me and offered a full refund if I return the item, I gladly took the offer and they followed through with the refund, they are an honest company).
